Professor Sara E. Davies is Deputy Director (Indo-Pacific Research) of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW) and Professor of International Relations, Griffith Asia Institute, Griffith University, Australia. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Australian Centre for Health Law Research, Queensland University of Technology; and a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. Sara’s research is focused on sexual and gender-based violence in conflict situations and anticipatory action in response to shock events (disasters, conflict, emergencies). Sara’s contribution to the International Relations discipline has been to advance feminist methods to deepen understanding of the conditions that lead to human insecurity, and to understand how non-Western international institutions and norms, especially in the Indo-Pacific, shape political behaviour to engage with the rights-based needs of populations at risk.
