Dr Santino Severoni, Director of the WHO Department of Health and Migration Dr Severoni is the Director of the Department of Health and Migration, Universal Health Coverage/Healthier Populations Division at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Geneva. Since 2000 he has held senior positions at the WHO Regional Office for Europe. He is a medical doctor and experienced system manager with over 24 years of experience as an international senior technical advisor and executive, worked for governments, multilateral organizations, nongovernmental organizations and foundations in Africa, the Balkans, central Asia and Europe.

During his professional career, his work has been dedicated to global health, with a focus on health sector reforms, health system strengthening, health diplomacy, aid coordination/effectiveness, and management of complex emergencies. He has worked as the WHO Representative in Albania and Tajikistan. Since 2011 Dr Severoni has been establishing and leading the public health aspects of migration work for WHO, first at the Regional Office for Europe and from 2022 globally as Director of the Department of Health and Migration at WHO headquarters in Geneva, supporting the implementation of the Global Compact on Orderly, Safe and Regular Migration and the Global Compact on Refugees, and coordinated the first WHO World Report on the Health of Refugees and Migrants.
