Rohan is an ARC DECRA Fellow and leading researcher in the economics of health and wellbeing of disadvantaged populations of Asia-Pacific. Rohan’s main research focuses are: health-aid effectiveness and wellbeing of disadvantaged communities in the Asia Pacific Region in the time of climate change.

Rohan's research is having impact, including aiding improved health service delivery and access for rural and poor in Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands, and influencing health-related aid & development effectiveness policy discussions globally.

Rohan is currently co-leading international collaborations on a number of research projects seeking to improve the effectiveness of climate related community upgrading and development projects in at risk communities in Indonesia and Fiji. Collaborating with researchers at Universitas Hasanuddin and Fiji National University and with grant funding support from the ARC and Pacific Actions Climate Transitions (PACT) collaborative partnership between Monash Business School, Fiji National University and Fiji Government.

Rohan is also an effective interdisciplinary researcher. In addition to the (mostly) interdisciplinary projects mentioned above, he has made significant contributions to Monash University's Interdisciplinary Flagship research project Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE), also in Fiji and Indonesia, and as co-Investigator on NHMRC projects focusing on disadvantaged populations in Australia.

He has experience collaborating and leading research projects in Indonesia, Timor Leste, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Kiribati and Australia and has won approx $1.9m in NHMRC and ARC research funding.

Rohan co-leads the Centre for Health Economics Global and Environmental Health Economics Theme and the Global Health Economics Melbourne (GHEM) special interest group.
