Nick is the New Zealand Director of Public Health at Manatū Hauora (Ministry of Health). In his previous role as Medical Officer of Health, Hawkes Bay, he led the public health response to the Havelock North campylobacter outbreak, co-chaired a Healthy Housing Coalition, and provided clinical leadership and expert environmental health advice. Nick has worked in public health for more than 30 years including 4 years at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where he led a team developing national Environmental Health Indicators. In 2020 Nick was awarded the New Zealand Public Service Medal.
