Melanie is an epidemiologist with more than 10 years’ interdisciplinary expertise in infectious disease prevention, control and elimination. She has substantial experience working in One Health and Health Security, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Melanie has been the lead author on several major reports for international and government donors on pandemic preparedness and response in the Indo-Pacific region, conducted research and consultancies on malaria elimination in the Greater Mekong Subregion, led projects on surveillance of antimicrobial resistance across human and animal health sectors for the Fleming Fund, and developed several training modules on zoonotic disease outbreaks and antimicrobial resistance for global use. Melanie’s One Health expertise extends to environmental and plant health, including development of innovative surveillance approaches for crop pests and diseases in Ghana, and research on weather and climate impacts on outbreak-prone infectious diseases.
