Dr Kyle Turner is from Dubbo in rural New South Wales, his family’s Wiradjuri country, and now resides in Naarm (Melbourne). In 2019, Kyle founded Pearlii, a for-profit social enterprise that used world-first AI technology to scan photos of teeth and gums for common dental problems, bringing free dental check-ups and free oral health education to the world. Today, he is also an Investment Manager for the Black Excellence Fund, which invests in and helps to grow First Nation businesses across Australia. Previously, Kyle completed a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Oxford, and has published widely on the burden of chronic disease, with a focus on prevention, which is underpinned by his demonstrated passion for improving health outcomes for First Nations Peoples, as well as other disadvantaged groups, such as prisoners.
