A multi-award winning infectious diseases specialist, Associate Professor Kanhutu has received national recognition for her contribution to digital health innovation. With a career spanning over 20 years in the public sector she comes with a broad professional skill set encompassing patient care, board governance and digital health strategy. In her capacity as the Dean of the Royal Australasian College of physicians she oversees a broad portfolio of works including workforce planning, research, philanthropy and global health. She has a particular interest in technical solutions to health problems from her experiences of health innovation in her birth country Zimbabwe and working in rural and regional Australia.  

At national Government level, A/Prof Kanhutu is a Ministerial appointee to the Australian Multicultural Council and represents the College of Physicians at the National Medical Workforce Reform Advisory Council.    

A vocal advocate for health and gender equity, her current research interests are in virtual care models for community based care and housing as a social determinant of health.
