Professor Jacqui True, FASSA, FAIIA is Director of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence against Women (CEVAW) and Professor of International Relations at Monash University. She is a Global Fellow at the Peace Research Institute, Oslo, and Editor of European Journal of International Security. Her research is focused on understanding the political economy of violence against women globally, investigating the gender dimensions of violent extremism and terrorism in order to prevent violence, and analysing how to make peace processes more gender-inclusive in post-conflict societies.

Jacqui is a prominent public advocate for the WPS agenda and gender-inclusive peacebuilding. During her career, she has worked with multiple NGOs, governments and international organisations to elevate women’s perspectives and peacebuilding actions. She is the author of 16 books and over 150 articles including The Political Economy of Violence against Women (2012), Violence against Women: What Everyone Needs to Know (2020) and Hidden Wars: Gendered Violence in Asia’s Civil Conflicts (2024) with Sara E. Davies. Together with Sara E. Davies, she brought together over 100 leading WPS practitioners and scholars to produce The Oxford Handbook on Women, Peace and Security (2019).
