A/Prof Cheryl Carcel is an NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellowship, neurologist and heads the Brain Health Program at The George Institute for Global Health. She is a Stroke Society of Australasia Emerging Stroke Clinician and Scientist. As a World Heart Federation Emerging Leader in Stroke, Dr Carcel leads a trial evaluating essential acute stroke care in low-resource settings in Nigeria and Peru. Her research focuses on sex and gender differences, women’s brain health, stroke trials, cognition and policies encouraging disaggregation of data by sex.
