SESSION DETAILS

We know that where we live is one of the strongest predictors of our life expectancy. Yet, our cities aren't always designed for better health.

The built environment has a huge impact on our health and wellbeing. Access to parks and open spaces, healthy and affordable food, sports and recreation opportunities, healthcare services, public transport and walkable neighbourhoods, education, and employment, all affect our ability to access and achieve good health.

This session includes a keynote address by Salvatore Fundaro, Programme Manager, UN-Habitat discussing the 2024 My Neighbourhood which brings a new perspective to urban design - viewing cities as a growing continuum from neighborhood to urban and broader city-region scale. This will be followed by a broader conversation with experts about how to better design safer, fairer, healthier and more connected communities.
