Dr. Adnan Hyder is Senior Associate Dean for Research and Innovation as well as Professor of Global Health at the Milken Institute School of Public Health, George Washington University, USA. For over 25 years, Dr. Hyder has worked to improve public health in the United States and in countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East; and pioneered empirical work around ethics, injuries, health systems, and non-communicable diseases. He has conducted studies focusing on defining the epidemiological burden, understanding risk factors, exploring potential interventions, estimating economic impact, and appreciating the socio-cultural correlates of non-communicable diseases and injuries and their risk factors around the world. Dr. Hyder has led a series of conceptual and empirical studies on research ethics, health systems ethics, and ethics of health policy and systems research. Currently, he also serves as the founding Director of the Center on Commercial Determinants of Health at George Washington University and the Bioethics Interest Group at Milken Institute School of Public Health.

Dr. Hyder has extensive experience leading large capacity development programs in low-middle income countries including several major training grants funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. He has co-authored over 400 scientific peer-reviewed papers and numerous world reports with organizations like the World Bank, World Health Organization and UNICEF.  Dr. Hyder has worked in over 85 countries around the world, currently serves as International President of the World Health Summit for 2023, Chair of the Board for Health Systems Global, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Youth for Road Safety and has been an advisor to several internal organizations. Dr. Hyder received his M.D. from the Aga Khan University, Pakistan and obtained his MPH and Ph.D. in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, USA.
